International Centre for EdTech Impact Joins Forces with HP Inc.
Empowering Policymakers with Evidence-Based EdTech Guidance
The International Centre for EdTech Impact formalized a new initiative with HP Inc. aimed at addressing one of the most pressing challenges facing ministries of education worldwide: how to evaluate and incentivise EdTech innovation and implement solutions that genuinely improve learning outcomes at scale and across diverse contexts. Research shows that decision-makers rarely use evidence when selecting edtech tools. Yet evidence is essential for understanding how useful different edtech tools are in different contexts, how easy they are to implement in specific schools, and whether they will continue to work over time.
The need for stronger guidance in navigating a fast-moving EdTech landscape is increasingly being recognized by many organizations, including at the https://uk.bettshow.com/ministerial-symposium held in London last week, where ICEI and HP formalized their collaboration.
Olav Schewe (ICEI), Natalia Kucirkova (ICEI), Mayank Dhingra (HP) and Jitka Tomkova (HP)
Both organizations have invested significantly in connecting policy-makers to edtech research for some time. ICEI, as a core partner in UNESCO’s Global Education Coalition, regularly convenes senior policymakers and facilitates workshops that translate cutting-edge research into actionable guidance. HP has accelerated global research–policy engagement through the HP Cambridge Partnership for Education EdTech Fellowship, a program that equips ministry leaders with the competencies needed to apply rigorous EdTech research to real-world policy and system-level challenges.
HP and ICEI will now collaborate on a joint initiative focused squarely on equipping policymakers with the knowledge required to drive effective, equitable EdTech adoption.
ICEI Director Professor Natalia Kucirkova commented:
“The science behind EdTech impact is often missing from the training of those making the most critical policy and investment decisions. Understanding EdTech evidence takes time, and trying to learn it alone is rarely effective. Researchers, practitioners, and decision-makers need to work together. At ICEI, we have taken a staged approach: first, we developed an impact guide for investors in partnership with Brighteye and Owl Ventures, and then we launched a short introductory course for policymakers. This new partnership with HP will take that work to the next level, bringing rigorous, accessible guidance directly to policymakers around the world.”Mayank Dhingra, HP Director & Global Head, Education Business and Strategy, said :
“At HP, we are committed to empowering communities to thrive by providing technology and skills needed for the Future of Work. This begins in the classroom and by working with ICEI, we are providing policymakers with the rigorous evidence needed to make smarter EdTech choices to prepare learners with the skills required for tomorrow’s job market.”
The first major output of this collaboration will be a world-class course for policymakers, designed to build foundational and advanced capacities for EdTech procurement, evaluation, and implementation, helping education systems make more informed, inclusive, and impact-driven technology decisions.
